During the process of lifting A residence in Ocean City, New Jersey, needed to be raised above the newly established FEMA flood elevation post Super Storm Sandy. It was determined that a new concrete slab needed to be installed under the house as well. The engineers specified Helical Piles to support the raised structure and the slab.
Project Summary
- Helical Pile Type: SS5
- # of Helical Piles: 17
- Location: Ocean City, NJ
- Installation Depth: 20′ – 25′
- Equipment Used: Mini Skid steer, 6K Eskridge Drive Head, custom fabricated mounting bracket for working around crib packs
- Challenge/Unique Aspect: Due to the low head room of roughly 9′, an excavator could not fit under the house so a skid steer was used because of the lower overall height of the machine. Extra caution was taken when maneuvering the skid steer under the house, so none of the wooden cribbing was struck, potentially moving the house in the process.
