This project involved the installation of twenty five Helical piles (SS 175 or 1 3/4″ square shaft) with underpinning brackets to support a two story apartment building that had experienced considerable settlement and cracking.

- Challenge/Unique Aspect: During the installation, the installer encountered a 6″ concrete floor at six feet below grade that had not been detected when test borings were done. Only three pile locations were affected and the concrete was jack hammered, excavated out of the way, and the remaining three piles successfully installed.
