Horace Mann School

A turn of the century public school was being renovated to house a school for the Deaf and needed to add an Elevator to comply with the code. A load test was required to confirm that the IDEAL     2 7/8″ pipe piles that were specified could carry the load.

Project Summary:

  • Helical Pile Type: IDEAL 2 7/8″ Pipe Piles (.203 wall)
  • Location: Charleston, MA
  • Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 9.5 Ton Working | 19 Ton Ultimate
  • Equipment Used: Cat 305
  • Challenge/Unique Aspect: A section of the building had to be opened up to allow access for the machine to reach inside and install the piles. In addition to access and mobilization challenges, low impact, no-vibration piles were required due to the age and condition of the building.
  • Danbro Installer: J&J Construction
  • Engineer/Architect: McPhail Associates
