A boathouse constructed in 1903 was out of code but could be refurbished if the original foundation was preserved. Helical piers were used to underpin the existing foundation enabling the reconstruction of the historic structure.

Project Summary:

  • Helical Pile Type: RS 2.875 Pipe Piles
  • Location: Glen Cove, NY
  • Installation Depth: 40′
  • Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 10″ 12″
  • Challenge/Unique Aspect: Work had to be timed between tides, limiting the installation between low and mid-tide. A specialized, made to order bracket was fabricated to catch the 4′ wide footing. All products needed to be galvanized due to the tidal influence in a saltwater environment for this historic preservation project.
  • Danbro Installer: Scobbo Foundations Systems
  • Engineer/Architect: Newport Engineering
