A modest, code non-conforming cottage needed to maintain there current footprint while adding a third story to enjoy ocean views. Helical piles installed through the slab-on-grade in tight quarters was the solution.
Project Summary:
- Helical Pile Type: IDEAL 2 7/8″ Pipe Piles (203 wall)
- # of Helical Piles: 11
- Location: Rye, NH
- Installation Depth: 15′ to 20′
- Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: Varing point loads 15K 20K 25K & 40K
- Equipment Used: Prodig 6K drivehead mounted on Toro Dingo walk-behind
- Challenge/Unique Aspect: Care needed to be taken to insure no damage to the interior of the building. Access was extremely tight with overhead limitations between seven and ten feet. Other trades were waiting in the wings as the foundation work needed to be completed first.
