A road was being constructed through the wetlands in Pleasantville New Jersey. The purpose of this road was to facilitate the dumping of dredge spoils in the wetlands. A large body of water in the wetlands necessitated the construction of a bridge to reach the spoil site. The bridge was constructed with stone gabion baskets and concrete bridge abutments.

- Challenge/Unique Aspect: Mobilization issues and environmental restrictions to the sensitive wetlands environment drove the decision to use helicals. Helicals use small, non-intrusive low-impact equipment with minimal distrubance to the environment. Helicals also come in segmented lengths, packaged in bundles which allowed for the material to be staged on the crowded, active site. This allowed the road to be built silmultaniously without having to work around the staged material for the bridge work.
